A Short Guide of Florence

Do you want to leave for an amazing trip, discover work of arts and be fashinated by culture, museums, antiquities and attractions? Then Florence is the right place for you.

Once you let down you luggage and you are ready to go you can start walking in the most important and famous streets of the town and start admiring its beauties just by looking around. This small perimeter is marked by a medieval wall and inside you can find some among the most cherished treasures for humanity.

To admire them we suggest you start from Piazza Duomo and Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral (also called the "Duomo") which has become the symbol of the city thanks to its characteristic cupola. In that same square you can enjoy the majestic building - even climb on top of it-, Giotto's belltower and the Battistero di San Giovanni which entrance is decorated with the"Doors of Paradise" by Lorenzo Ghiberti.

From Piazza Duomo you can reach in a few minutes Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the Basilica di San Lorenzo di Filippo Brunelleschi that hosts the famous  Michelangelo and Donatello sacristy.

Few steps from there you can find the Gallery of the Academy that hosts the original Michelangelo's David and just after that, the Santissima Annuziata square with Brunelleschi's Loggiato degli Innocenti.

Going back to the Duomo, you can go on with the tour through Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and Santa Croce square and reach Ponte Vecchio, the beautiful bridge with many small houses on it, until you reach the bohemienne part of Florence on the other part of the river. In the Oltrarno, how this area is called, you can visit Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Garden. Not far from there, the Santo Spirito church and santa Maria del Carmine with original frescos by Masolino, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi are waiting for you.

To conclude this cultural tour of the major attractions in Florence, just walk direction west from the Duomo square and you will see the majestic Palazzo Strozzi, which hosts many exhibitions throughout the year, and the Santa Maria Novella church, whose facade was made by Leon Battista Alberti.

The nicest thing of this tour is that you can reach each one of these attractions by foot while admiring the beautiful streets of Florence, the river and many nice shops. Florence will make every wish come true.
