Trame fiorentine. Arazzi medicei per la storia della città

Events in Florence: from December 18 to February 17, 2019

The White Hall of Palazzo Pitti has the honor - and the burden - to house three tapestries originally produced for the Sala di Gualdrada Berti in Palazzo Vecchio. From December 18 to February 17 2019, in fact, the three tapestries inspired by the Florentine history are the focus of the exhibition Trame fiorentine. Arazzi medicei per la storia della città.

The precious arras will be displayed to the public after a first hard restoration work, which will allow them to be completely brought back to light, after centuries of obscuring. The tapestries of Medici manufacture, realized on projects by Federico Lamberto Sustris, illustrate The consecration of the Baptistery, The Goths besiege Fiesole and League between Florence and Fiesole. The series is a particular thematic solution, focused on the ancient past of the city. Thanks to the innovative technology in the hall, the public can compare the tapestries with the preparatory drawings, appreciating the complexity and the mastery of the various phases that led to the final result. An extraordinary event, which lasting just two months in Florence: you can’t miss it.
