Tony Cragg in Boboli Garden

Events in Florence: from May 5 to October 27, 2019

The Boboli Gardens, a wonderful open-air museum, meets contemporary art again, after the successful experiences of last years. In summer and early autumn, the Medici garden hosts the exhibition Tony Cragg in Boboli Garden, set from 5 May to 27 October 2019.

The exhibition, devoted to one of the greatest exponents of contemporary art in the world, gathers 16 works tracing the last twenty years of the artist's production, from 1997 to the present. Steel geysers, bronze stalagmites and colored resin flowers alternate with neat hedges and the allegories statues in the Boboli Gardens. The symbolic strength of the unexpected dialogue, between nature and city, past and contemporary, guides the visitor through strong sensations. The plastic presences that suddenly emerge near the Palazzina della Meridiana or the Grotta del Buontalenti, seem to unleash all the strength and hidden energy of the gentle hills around. The exhibition follows the philosophy of Tony Cragg, who thinks sculpture, starting from the restless exploration of Matter and the environment, brings to light new languages.
