One of the most famous works of ancient Rome is the protagonist of the new exhibition hosted inside the Lemon House in the Boboli Gardens in Florence. The Trajan’s Column, from the name of the emperor who wanted its construction in 113 AD, has a fascinating and complicated story, all to discover.

How? Visiting the exhibition Building a masterpiece: Trajan's Column, set up from June 18 to October 6, 2019 in the Boboli Gardens. Historical documents, archaeological sources and models created with great precision describe the phases of the column’s construction, the difficulties in finding the materials and the techniques of the time. The monument, designed to celebrate the military conquest of Dacia, inspired artists and architects until the nineteenth century, thanks to its innovative architectural features. The exhibition itinerary is accompanied by multimedia devices provided by the Museo Galileo of Florence, showing the techniques used by the Romans. The exhibition, inside the Lemon House, can be visited with the entrance ticket to the Boboli Gardens.
