Verrocchio, the master of Leonardo

Events in Florence: from March 8th to July 14th 2019

Palazzo Strozzi confirms its role as perfect location to illustrate the life and works of great masters of the past. From March 8 Andrea Verrocchio will be the protagonist of the exhibition Verrocchio, the master of Leonardo, open until July 14, 2019.

The exhibition promises to be an extraordinary event: for the first time the major works of 15th century artist Andrea Verrocchio are collected together with those by Pietro Perugino, Domenico Ghirlandaio and Leonardo da Vinci. The 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, his most famous pupil, is celebrated in 2019. The project is the result of a collaboration with the Florentine Museo Nazionale del Bargello, which also hosts a part of the exhibition. The whole artistic path aims to describe a complex figure as Verrocchio’s: sculptor, painter, goldsmith and draughtsman able to interpret the values of the Florence ruled by Medici. His work and brilliant intuitions traced the guidelines for great 15th century artists both in Italy and in Europe.
